Folks, I am new here. I have had VAX/VMS and Open VMS experience expanding more than 16 years. When surveyed as to which operating system I most preferred, naturally i chosed Open VMS. But alas, there are already very few Open VMS sites. I learned that telecoms (especially Verizon) is using Open VMS for text message handling. Is this true? I would like to get feedbacks on what unique sites are still using Open VMS (including those who are not saying so for security purposes). It just makes me feel good that there are still adherents to this wonderful OS. Thanks |

TK50 is slow-how about loading TU58 on an 11/730 ? It takes about 30 minutes to read 256K of data. The TU58 used a serial interface, guessing they wanted to make sure it supported modems so I think it runs at 1200 baud.
I've had a VAX 4000 running for 471 days straight before the UPS died on it. I remember the first time I typed in "01-jan-2000" under VM 7.1 and it accepted the date with no problems.

You refuse to acknowledge Compaq or HP with regard to OpenVMS, VAX, and Alpha.
You believe that IA64 is an abomination.
You think that native X86-64 OpenVMS would actually be a positive for Intel (finally a real operating system on Intel).
