I was wondering if anyone knows if MVP systems is still involved with the OpenVMS hobbyist program.

Two weeks ago, I requested a Hobbyist License PAK for JAMS, and I still have not received it.

They still have on their site a page (http://www.mvpsi.com/Hobby.aspx) where you can request a Hobbyist license.

Does anyone know more than "It's a Black Hole!"?

Not offhand - I received the JAMS License PAK last year, and haven't paid any attention since. The license is set to expire in August of this year.

I'd suggest "pinging" them again.

I did "ping" them, and I have the license now.

MVP Systems Hobbyist administrator, John Voterro sent me a note to let me know that the license was sent, and that if I needed a license for an Itanium system to let him know, because "we haven't built that in to our standard hobbyist generation job yet."

Are Itanium systems on eBay yet? smiley Cheap?

I seem to remember Island (a forum sponsor) advertising that they had some IA64 systems possibly in the hobbyist price ranges.

Several other resellers also may have specials on low end IA64 systems that can run VMS.

No more VAX hobbyist licenses. Community licenses for Alpha/IA64/X86_64 VMS Software Inc. Commercial VMS software licenses for VAX available from HPE.

Just re-visiting.. No more hobbyist licenses? Is that from vmssoftware.com, no 'community' licenses?

I recall that the disks failed on the public access VMS systems that included Fafner

Anyone know what happened to FAFNER.DYNDS.ORG? I had a hobbyist account here but can longer access the site.

At one time, didn't this web site have a job board? I would love to use my legacy skills one last time in my career.

New Hobbyist PAKs for VAX/VMS are no longer available according to reports. Only commercial licenses are reported to be for sale from HPE

Eisner, which is currently being moved, got an SSH update and the keys were updated to more modern encryption standards.
