HI

Have anyone schematic diagram for this machine ?

Some time ago, i inherited this old computer from friend, and bcause i'm old computer hobbyist, so i wanted to run it. Unfortinately, the video output is in SOG, that is unaccepted by my VGA monitor. Because i cannot find adapter SOG->VGA, at resonable price, i decided to modify the GPX 8-plane card in my box. Suprasingly it wasnt so hard, the sync signal i take from RAMDAC PIN, (this signal purpose is mixing with G analog signal), and put onto 7414 with a capacitor to separate Hsync+Vsync (as H ) and Vsync. It works fine, but is still one problem - the G signal is mixing with csync, and signal level is shifted up, so the color balance is distorted (the screeen is in green). To eliminate this problem, i grounded RAMDAC PIN, to force normal operation without SOG, then the signal was right, but appear new problem - the card after initialisation computer detect as faulty. After some investigation, i discover, that the mainboard probe the SOG output somewhere beetwen GPX and Video connector, and if detect missing csync, the card is marked as faulty. Because the PCB of mainboard is multilayer, i can't find the trace of connections.

PS: I hope, I'll be understanded (I know, my english is bad) smiley.

Regards

Hello Krzysztof

Your english is not so bad.... :-)

I have another, possibly easyer solution for your Problem. I use a Samsung Syncmaster 17GLSi and it works fine with SOG machines. I just connect the RGB lines to the BNC connectors (just like the original DEC monitor) and that's it.
Maybe there are other multisync monitors with BNC connectors who can handle SyncOnGreen...

Try Ebay to find a Samsung GLSi... but not a GLi, this one has no BNC's.

Another possibility is to look for an SOG to VGA converter. There exist small boxes who do that.

Most of 17+ in. hi-end (as said, hi-end will have BNCs) monitors support sync on green, I'm using Iiyama Vision Master and Samsung SyncMaster

No more VAX hobbyist licenses. Community licenses for Alpha/IA64/X86_64 VMS Software Inc. Commercial VMS software licenses for VAX available from HPE.

Just re-visiting.. No more hobbyist licenses? Is that from vmssoftware.com, no 'community' licenses?

I recall that the disks failed on the public access VMS systems that included Fafner

Anyone know what happened to FAFNER.DYNDS.ORG? I had a hobbyist account here but can longer access the site.

At one time, didn't this web site have a job board? I would love to use my legacy skills one last time in my career.

Eisner, which is currently being moved, got an SSH update and the keys were updated to more modern encryption standards.
