Hi again,
In the last weeks I managed to get a keyboard as well as a monitor.
So I could install OPENVMS 7.3 on my VAXStation 4000/96.
Now I need a mouse.
There is a miniDIN connecto on the rear of the box, but the pin layout is different from PS/2.
So if there is an adapter available ....

Any comments are welcome.

I am not aware of any adapters.

If you search the netbsd documentation, you may find a hardware description of what the older Digital mouse hardware and protocol is, and compare it with the current one.

I have seen reports of people using small microprocessor modules kits to make adapters for PS/2 keyboards to older 8 bit computers, so it may be possible to create an adapter.

A mouse for the VAXstation, DEC 3000, or the DECstations EXCLUDING the Personal DECstation line (Personal DECstation has a system that is apparently unique to that line) will work. They're proprietary and you'd need to convert both levels and signalling protocol to have a PS/2 converter work.

So far I've pretty much exclusively run my VAXes over the network and via serial console. You don't loose much of anything compared to a local head.

No more VAX hobbyist licenses. Community licenses for Alpha/IA64/X86_64 VMS Software Inc. Commercial VMS software licenses for VAX available from HPE.

Just re-visiting.. No more hobbyist licenses? Is that from vmssoftware.com, no 'community' licenses?

I recall that the disks failed on the public access VMS systems that included Fafner

Anyone know what happened to FAFNER.DYNDS.ORG? I had a hobbyist account here but can longer access the site.

At one time, didn't this web site have a job board? I would love to use my legacy skills one last time in my career.

See the forum about licensing. Don't know if HPE hobby licenses still being issued. Commercial licenses still being sold.

Eisner, which is currently being moved, got an SSH update and the keys were updated to more modern encryption standards.
