Hello,
I have a MicroVAX 3100 Model 80 that is available to anyone who would like it. There's also a variety of small SCSI disks, an external RRD43 and a DAT drive. Also have a bunch of Ethernet 10Base2 cables, connectors and other stuff including the MV3100 hardware manual.
It's a well travelled system. It went with me too and from New Zealand.
It's available free to anyone who can collect from Loughborough in England.
All the best,
Adrian Lumsden

Hi Adrian... I would love it. I used to work on VAXen back in my youth, so have great nostalgia for the old beasts. Linux doesn't give the same buzz I used to get from VMS. |

Just to let everyone know that Gerry will be taking the MV3100-80 and I'm glad that it's going to a good home.
regards,
Adrian |

A quick update... I have OpenVMS 7.3 + UCX TCPIP 5.1 up and running on this box. 2 SCSI drives installed and working nicely. I have serial and telnet access to the box set up and working fine, but am looking at getting SSH on it too.
Also looking to get my hands on the layered products, as I don't have the C compiler on my VMS CD.
Having great fun re-acquainting myself with this great OS. |

I've never used TCP/IP services v5.1 for OpenVMS VAX, but TCP/IP v5.0 is terrible - performance drags horribly. I heard that TCP/IP v5.something (5.3? 5.6?) was much better, but if it's over 5.3 it ain't on VAX... and v5.3 isn't on the hobbyist media (unfortunately).
Anyway, after the 5.0 debacle I went to the Process Software stacks. They have hobbyist licenses available for MultiNet and TCPware - you might want to check those out. |
