Is there a good/reliable place to procure complete and fully working VAX hardware to run OpenVMS/VMS and Decnet/DEC LAT on? I am hoping to get some non ethernet connectivity solutions too, just to attach to some of my other non-ethernet systems.

Depends on how much you want to spend, too. Scrounging on lists will net you a much cheaper system. Note that DEC was in DIX, so most of the systems will be Ethernet-equipped, especially at the low end. Some MicroVAX and MicroVAX-inspired VAXes will have DSSI, which will support clustering as well as storage, and larger machines will have CI (again, mainly for clustering and storage), but you'll probably have to go up to a bigVAX to get anything alternative - I know XMI had a FDDI adapter)

Does anybody want a microvax 3100 with 1Gb HDD? I bought it to start using OpenVMS again but have had such trouble getting hold of the software I'm giving up. Free to collect to a good home.

No more VAX hobbyist licenses. Community licenses for Alpha/IA64/X86_64 VMS Software Inc. Commercial VMS software licenses for VAX available from HPE.

Just re-visiting.. No more hobbyist licenses? Is that from vmssoftware.com, no 'community' licenses?

I recall that the disks failed on the public access VMS systems that included Fafner

Anyone know what happened to FAFNER.DYNDS.ORG? I had a hobbyist account here but can longer access the site.

At one time, didn't this web site have a job board? I would love to use my legacy skills one last time in my career.

New Hobbyist PAKs for VAX/VMS are no longer available according to reports. Only commercial licenses are reported to be for sale from HPE

See the forum about licensing. Don't know if HPE hobby licenses still being issued. Commercial licenses still being sold.

Eisner, which is currently being moved, got an SSH update and the keys were updated to more modern encryption standards.
