Dear DEC fellows,
today I've received a SCSI IBM DDRS-34560 harddisk device.
When I added it to my MicroVAX 3100-95 system and issued the command "sh de" (show device) only one of the harddisks gets recognized.
Also both get the DKA0 device name, but I hoped one will be DKA0 and the another DKA100 :-(
What should I do to solve this issue?
Hope you can help me.
Kind regards
PS: I guess I need to set/change the SCSI id?
?02 EXT HLT
PC = 841358D3
>>>sh de
SCSI Adapter A, SCSI ID 6
-DKA0 (QUANTUM FIREBALL_TM3200S)
-DKA400 (TOSHIBA CD-ROM)
Ethernet Adapter
-EZA0 (xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx)
>>>
---------------------------------------------------
>>>sh de
SCSI Adapter A, SCSI ID 6
-DKA0 (IBM DDRS-34560)
-DKA400 (TOSHIBA CD-ROM)
Ethernet Adapter
-EZA0 (xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx)

Dear all,
sorry for my reply, but I've got an update for you: Now it's all working! Initially I did not notice the several jumpers at the bottom of the IBM harddisk. Then I've set the jumper correctly (I don't recall which one exactly) and booted the machine, now three devices are found: DKA0, DKA100, DKA400. That's exactly my requirement.
Regards,

Parallel SCSI devices need to have their bus ID number set on them.
With first generation SCSI, the range is from 0 to 7, and the controller is usually 7, but occasionally may be 6.
Some SCSI enclosures automatically assign device IDs.
Later generation of SCSI have a larger range of IDs available. |
