When you apply for an OpenVMS license, you need to know the CPU Serial Number. Does anyone know where this is on a DS10L? I saw a 10 digit serial number (2 letters followed by 8 digits) on a mount on the rear of the box which I guess is it, but I'm not sure. The mount is narrow and only the upper 2/3 of the characters are there. If that is the serial number, it sure is a poor place to stick it!

That would be it. And for those that are unable to locate the Serial Number or do not have one (i.e. SIMH/Charon), just use "NONE"
I had the same problem on my machine. No serial numbers to be seen, and I didnt fancy taking the box apart to look on the CPU Boards.
Then I tried

and low & behold cpu0 and a what looks like a serial No format AANNNNAAAAA
and CPU1, and CPU2 and CPU3
When I applied to the Licences at http://www.openvmshobbyist.com/get_yer_licenses/index.html
I just gave the CPU0 serial and the licences all seem to work...so far... :wink:
