Hello.
I'm new user with OpenVMS and I have big problem.
One Alpha 1200A server died and there is no picture and the computer doe's not boot. The problem is something with the motherboard.
I have some program for finance and I need the data and the prgram to get extract from the drives. The drives are scsi Hotplugable. I have PC with Hotplugable backplay and I will install Linux but I need more information how to get data from OpenVMS drives and how to transfer if it is possible.
Thank you very much. |

Probably a little late... I had a similar issue... there is a power cut off switch that must be engaged by the top case cover for the unit to power on. An overheat pevention feature?. I "fixed" mine with a jumper made from some old copper cable... a paper clip and some electrical tape would probably work as well.

Not this one... the system appears to be completely dead. A quick way to check is to open the case and find the switch. It is located about 4 inches in front and center... I have had one with a bad switch and one where the plate did not make contact. It is worth a try!
