Hello,

I got a strange problem with OpenVMS 8.3 (no patches original from Hobbyist Kit installed). Sometimes SCSI get a reset an OpenVMS stops working w/o any message. This problems occures somtimes also while booting.

While syncing Raid1 no problem ocurred, but if I want to install any patch set (e.g VMS83A_PCSI-V0200) console shows 0%, SCSI disk lights, then reset and nothing more happens.

To check for hardware problems I installed Debian Linux 5.0.4 (for AXP). I did many checks which created heavy load on disks for several hours. Linux syslog did not show any scsi related problems, so I would say there is no HW problem.

What should be checked to get rid off that problem ?

best regards
Christian

No more VAX hobbyist licenses. Community licenses for Alpha/IA64/X86_64 VMS Software Inc. Commercial VMS software licenses for VAX available from HPE.

Just re-visiting.. No more hobbyist licenses? Is that from vmssoftware.com, no 'community' licenses?

I recall that the disks failed on the public access VMS systems that included Fafner

Anyone know what happened to FAFNER.DYNDS.ORG? I had a hobbyist account here but can longer access the site.

At one time, didn't this web site have a job board? I would love to use my legacy skills one last time in my career.

New Hobbyist PAKs for VAX/VMS are no longer available according to reports. Only commercial licenses are reported to be for sale from HPE

See the forum about licensing. Don't know if HPE hobby licenses still being issued. Commercial licenses still being sold.

Eisner, which is currently being moved, got an SSH update and the keys were updated to more modern encryption standards.
