Right now I'm using my PWS600 with an NCR 53C810 SCSI controller which is 50pin, but I want to use 68pin HDDs (wide). And I need a new controller that can be booted from the SRM of the PWS600 and to be recognized by OpenVMS.
I created a list of the supported by OpenVMS controllers, but only two of them I think will be bootable by my old PWS:
KZPAC/KZPSC (Mylex DAC960) and QLA1040 (is this KZPBA?). And the controller must not be a DEC part - I need some generic (my NCR 53C810 is an ASUS PCI-200 card). Is there any other old wide SCSI (SCSI/RAID) controller? Will some generic (from some x86 server) Mylex DAC960 work with the SRM and OpenVMS?
What SCSI controllers do you use in your Personal Workstations - share some experience please smiley

P.S. the exact hardware is PWS 600a (Miata MX5) with SRM 7.2-1

P.P.S. I found a quotation about generic (not DEC/Compaq branded) Mylex 960 working on Miata just with BIOS reflashed with the DEC analog. Can anyone confirm this?

No more VAX hobbyist licenses. Community licenses for Alpha/IA64/X86_64 VMS Software Inc. Commercial VMS software licenses for VAX available from HPE.

Just re-visiting.. No more hobbyist licenses? Is that from vmssoftware.com, no 'community' licenses?

I recall that the disks failed on the public access VMS systems that included Fafner

Anyone know what happened to FAFNER.DYNDS.ORG? I had a hobbyist account here but can longer access the site.

At one time, didn't this web site have a job board? I would love to use my legacy skills one last time in my career.

New Hobbyist PAKs for VAX/VMS are no longer available according to reports. Only commercial licenses are reported to be for sale from HPE

See the forum about licensing. Don't know if HPE hobby licenses still being issued. Commercial licenses still being sold.

Eisner, which is currently being moved, got an SSH update and the keys were updated to more modern encryption standards.
