Hi All
I have a Alpha 500 machine with the 8.3 Hobbyist version of openvms
Trying to install Oracle ( version 9 ) I went here to download it, but I don't have any java installed to run the jar.
Following the hp site , IF I got it right , came out I need to install some patches before installing the sdk
My (stupid) question is:
the hobbyist version needs all the patches as well or not cos it's already patched?
thanks ! |

I think you need the patches. Get them from
ftp://ftp.itrc.hp.com/openvms_patches/alpha/V8.3 |

Not that much, actually: The UPDATE kits are collections of individual patches, and all OpenVMS ECOs are cumulative (i.e. V6 contains all the V5 patches).
So, have a look at the master ECO list to find out which patches are contained in the latest UPDATE kit (and more important, which are not). Get the UPDATE and later patches, and the latest TCP/IP ECO, and off you go.
HTH,
