the usual zip/unzip on VMS is the info zip one and The current stable versions are available on the VMS freeware site
http://h71000.www7.hp.com/freeware/freeware80/000tools/
beta releases of the next versions of this can be found at
http://www.antinode.org/ftp/info-zip/
There is also gzip
http://www.antinode.org/ftp/gzip/
and bzip2

Here are my findings:
I managed to download zip30f source files. I successfully built an .exe file. Also I was able to make two zip files (.zip and .z01). I transfered these two files (binary transfer) to Windows platform and I tried to unpack them. Zip reports that the .zip file is corrupt - it just does not know how to handle multiple volumes.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

The official sources for new things are the often-dead Info-ZIP FTP
server:
ftp://ftp.info-zip.org/pub/infozip/
and the more reliable SourceForge server:
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=118012
Much of the stuff on my server is unofficial and/or untrustworthy.
(So don't come crying to me when it causes death and/or destruction.)

Unpack them with what? (Name? Version?)
Zip 3.0f seems to be in pretty good condition, but the whole
split-archive feature may or may not be compatible with non-Info-ZIP
archivers, so I would not recommend using it if I were taking an archive
to a Windows system where I had some other Zip-like program.
Did you try creating a single (non-split) archive using Zip 3.0f?
The zip program you have on Windows may do better with one large archive
than it will with a split archive. At least one (other Windows) program
should be large-file capable:

In principle, UnZip 6.00c could do the job on Windows, but I don't
know where you can get a Windows binary kit for it. |
