We had a drive fail in our Alpha 1000A, and now when we try to access UCX we get this error.
[code:1:ea80205909]
%DCL-W-ACTIMAGE, error activation image UCX$CFS_SHR
-CLI-E-IMGNAME, image file $1$DRA0:[SYSLIB]UCX$CFS_SHR.EXE;1
-SYSTEM-F-PROTINSTALL, protected images must be installed
[/code:1:ea80205909]

We are not sure if this is due to the drive failure or not. We are trying to reconfigure the IP address so we can get the data off this system.

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.

This system was working before we moved it from its old location to our main site so we could get the data off it. I guess the drive failed during transportation, and is causing the other problem. We are not sure what was on the failed drive, but hope it was not anything important.

Seems we might have a spare drive around somewhere for this thing too, but anything on that drive is probably toast. That drive was not in any raid sets so it must not have been very important.

None of us are familiar with the OpenVMS system or Alpha Servers so is there any documentation on how to configure TCP/IP, and possibly troubleshoot this?

No more VAX hobbyist licenses. Community licenses for Alpha/IA64/X86_64 VMS Software Inc. Commercial VMS software licenses for VAX available from HPE.

Just re-visiting.. No more hobbyist licenses? Is that from vmssoftware.com, no 'community' licenses?

I recall that the disks failed on the public access VMS systems that included Fafner

Anyone know what happened to FAFNER.DYNDS.ORG? I had a hobbyist account here but can longer access the site.

At one time, didn't this web site have a job board? I would love to use my legacy skills one last time in my career.

New Hobbyist PAKs for VAX/VMS are no longer available according to reports. Only commercial licenses are reported to be for sale from HPE

See the forum about licensing. Don't know if HPE hobby licenses still being issued. Commercial licenses still being sold.

Eisner, which is currently being moved, got an SSH update and the keys were updated to more modern encryption standards.
