I have a PWS600au running OpenVMS 8.4. The system drive is a two volume shadow set of DKA0 and DKA100. The firmware is set to automatically boot from DKA0. Recently the DKA0 drive failed. The system continued to run from DKA100. When I attempted to reboot the system it failed because DKA0 was dead. Is it possible to set something at the console level that would establish an alternate boot device if booting from the primary fails? |

I believe the short answer is no. At the firmware level you can only designate a single boot device. |

I think you can type b dk100 at the console prompt to boot from the dk100 (assuming it has everything that is needed to boot - which a shadow set may not do). |
