Hello
I downloaded the unzup software for alph vms and when i tried to @unzip from the directory it is in dka0:[000000.users.prk] prk is my user director on my system. It gives me the following error %DCL-E-OPENIN, error opening ZKD as input
-RMS-F-SYN, file specification syntax error
$ clear
%DCL-W-IVVERB, unrecognized command verb - check validity and spelling
can someone help point me the right direction or state a solution

Ok
here is the mistake i was making found it with in the help file form unzip it self. If i typed "run unzip.exe" it would run but when i asked it to unzip a file it gave an error to many parameters. here is the fix
unzip :== $dev:[dir]unzip.exe for in which in my system would translate to
unzip :==$dka0:[000000.users.-prk]unzip.exe you are supposed tp put the in the login.com file so this happens on boot up.. the is to "define foreign command systeml"
it seems if i play long enough i will figure it out. but i panic put in on here then i have to post my own answers so please bare with me. I also hope that this helps some other noobie so they can continue to learn and not give up Like i have so many times i have installed vms.
thanks again

Recommendations: start with https://sourceforge.net/p/vms-ports/wiki/IntroVMSEnvironment/
I strongly recommend that physical device names only be used by system management operations like disk backup that require them.
Everything else should use concealed logical names to access disk names.
