I'm trying to install Oracle 10.2 for quit a while, without succes.
I did exactly what's described in the Installation manual.
If I run the runinstaller.com the installation files are coppied to the temp folder.
After that the massage apears:
Starting universal installer please wait ....
After that nothing happens anymore.
If I run the runinstaller from the temp folder I get weired error messages from java and the installation stops.
This only happens if the network in connected.
If no network in connected (I had to remove the check on that) the
Installation starts, but during the product check of the Installer I get several times the message that some queries can not be executed.
Therefore I have to skip the installation.
Of cause this is not the correct way of doing it,but I just played around to find the rason.
Is anybody out there to help me out.
Maybe I just missed something.
PS: I use a PWS500au with 1.5G and 2 huge SCSI disks for the data.
Maybe it's a hardware issue.
I don't think it is a hardware problem, a PWS500au it not that old
Are you sure to fulfill the requietments: VMS version, Java version....It looks as if the network might be the problem for some reason - but without the JAVA messages it's hard to tell.
After that nothing happens anymore.
The installer may well be a Java program, and that does take time. How long have you waited? Retry the installation, open a second terminal session and look what the installation process is doing, if processes are started by that program, check these as well, You could check with ANA/SYS to find out if any of these processes is waiting for a reply...
The requirements are met.
OpenVMS 8.3, Java comes with the Oracle CD ..
But here are new information:
I started the runinstaller.com with debug option.
Therfore I can tell that everythings fine so far.
If the Universal installer starts (at least it starts) I got some java errors.
I will post the detailed java error messages later.
Here are the java messages during the installation:
