I paid $50 to join ConnectUS, which I now realize may not have been necessary but definitely qualifies me for a hobbyist license. Everything I see on how to obtain a hobbyist license says to input my "membership number" with no indication of what this is or how to get it. There is nowhere on the ConnectUS site to obtain it unless it's well-hidden. How do I get this number?

Login, Go to "Profile Home", choose the "My Bio" tab, and scroll to the bottom of the page - your membership ID should appear there.

Of course, it would be nice if the membership ID appeared somewhere prominently as soon as you logged on...

Not seeing it... am I looking for a number, or do I just give the username I use to login to ConnectUS? I just joined, is there a lag before I'm issued the number I need?

Answering my own question, yes, there is a lag. When they get around to it, which in my case was after a few weeks and an email, a member number will appear exactly where the guy above says it is.

I'm glad it finally worked, and disappointed it took so long, especially since you paid for it. I guess the folks running the operation (not HP, BTW) are not much better than SB&K were with Encompass.

I just received my most recent email from Connect; in the "News" section, this little nugget appears:

News
Member IDs are now available! You can get your member Ids as part of your profile. These will be needed in order to receive event discounts and to take some online surveys.

Makes me wonder how we were supposed to find out our member IDs *before* this "enhancement".

Psychic ability?

No more VAX hobbyist licenses. Community licenses for Alpha/IA64/X86_64 VMS Software Inc. Commercial VMS software licenses for VAX available from HPE.

Just re-visiting.. No more hobbyist licenses? Is that from vmssoftware.com, no 'community' licenses?

I recall that the disks failed on the public access VMS systems that included Fafner

Anyone know what happened to FAFNER.DYNDS.ORG? I had a hobbyist account here but can longer access the site.

At one time, didn't this web site have a job board? I would love to use my legacy skills one last time in my career.

New Hobbyist PAKs for VAX/VMS are no longer available according to reports. Only commercial licenses are reported to be for sale from HPE

Eisner, which is currently being moved, got an SSH update and the keys were updated to more modern encryption standards.
