VMS Software has launched the Community License Program: you can get a free OpenVMS license intended for non-commercial use by applying here: https://vmssoftware.com/services/community-license/ |

This is great news, and it looks like it is a full OpenVMS Hobbyist license rather than the license+emulator image that they had before.
Don't know if it was just a bug for me or if it is a general issue but when I got my licenses the file was empty. |

Don't know if it was a temporary hiccough on their end or something with the mail server on my end but I re-applied and got a valid license. Now to throw it on one of the boxes and see what it will do. |

Important note: VSI changed the "PRODUCT" so you will have to download the newer versions of OpenVMS to have it work (which I guess is expected, after all it wouldn't be really legal to use it on a non-VSI version even if you could).
Plus side is it looks like you only have to put in one license code now, not the base, user, DW-MOTIF, UCX... etc...Unless of course you want to use Multinet or TCPWare - but Process Software does still have their hobbyist programs active!
Note that I have not had the time to install yet, so this is just from looking at the PAK. |
