Configuration:
Intel Core-i7 running Windows-10 Pro Version 1803, OS build 17134.112
FreeAXP Version 3.0.0.617
We have Hyper-V installed and run development version of Windows under Hyper-V.
We installed FreeAXP following the instructions. We have the following adapters:
Ethernet (not connected)
WIFI Bridged
Network Bridge
vEthernet (Hyper V)
We choose the vEthernet (Hyper V) for the DE435 interface
When we start FreeAXP and boot OpenVMS8.4, the OpenVMS can communicate with all of our network except for the PC it is running on.
We then followed the instruction in section 10.4 of the User Guide. Since we already have a network bridge, the instructions are incorrect. We have attempted many times to get the suggested configuration to work with no success. When attempting to utilize the Avanti NIC, there is no network access.
We are able to boot Windows 10 in a Hyper-V VM on the same PC as FreeAXP and communicate between the Windows in the VM and FreeAXP. We are able to utilize X11 and all other TCPIP tools.
Unfortunately, we need to access the base PC, and transfer data between FreeAXP and the base PC.
How can such be accomplished without utilizing a VM? |

Use the physical NICs, per section 10.2 in the User Guide.

The physical NIC is not attached to the network. I followed the instructions in 10.2 but FreeAXP has no network connectivity.
I will be off-site at a customer without internet access to our corporate systems. We are developing and testing software and need to be able to work on VMS software and transfer files between the emulated AXP system and the hosting PC.
We will not have a hardwired ethernet connection available offsite only the possibility of WIFI.
Having to run two VM's is resource intensive and very difficult to transfer files from the AXP system to the Virtual PC to the hosting PC., plus laptops have limited display area.. |

I assume you are attempting this on a laptop. You are asking a lot of a single wifi connection. It would be simplest to bring along a small dumb switch and one or more USB NIC's and create a physical network right on your desk. |
