I have installed FreeAXP with Alpha 8.4. I only have 128M in memory. What do you recommend the size of pagefile and swapffile should be? They seem to be filling up to easily.
thanks,

Thein,
as a general rule of thumb, page- and swapfiles should never be more than 50% utilized. It depends on your system load, how big you need to set them.
Let AUTOGEN do the calcuation via using: @SYS$UPDATE:AUTOGEN SAVPARAMS SETPARAMS FEEDBACK or manually make them bigger using @SYS$UPDATE:SWAPFILES.COM

What I was trying to do is install Oracle 10g client software on a 128M RAM FreeAXP. I read it later that you have to have 512M of RAM to install the client. So it's not strange that the pagefile was filling up. Is it possible to use a PostgreSQL client on FreeAXP OpenVMS? Has anybody done that? |
