Installed 271. Same problem with the configuration utility.
I also experienced a problem with installing Tru64 V5.1B-5 using the configuration file I currently have. It would boot the OS CD, but got a SCSI error on the CD drive at the point it would display the subsets to select from during a custom install. I really think I must have something running on my PC that is conflicting with FreeAXP. I am checking into getting another PC to work with this. |

On earlier releases, when installing Tru64, I found it was unwise to have other apps 'viewing' the CD/DVD drive or 'monitoring' it. So I'd exit explorer and turn off auto-play as well. You might also try disabling the background media catalogue thing (can't remember the proper MS name for it), and not leave media-player or equivalents running during the CD install, and also not have the CD 'shared', and not run the media sharing 'service'. But I expect you've probably tried those by now.
Care to post (cut-n-paste) the Tru64/CD errors if you kept 'em ?

You might also trying using something like ImgBurn (www.imgburn.com) to create an ISO of the installation media and then install from that.
1) It's faster.
2) It avoids hardware issues with the physical CD drive. |

FYI, the configuration wizard still crashes for me with 271 on the same Win 7 x64 Enterprise machine. But I tried 271 on a different Win 7 x64 Home Premium machine and it worked fine. |

The same problem seems to have been reported on Windows Server 2003 in the thread:
FreeAXP fails crating configuration on server 2003
Could you please EXACTLY describe what you've been doing ? Each mouse-click and each data item entered ?
FWIW, I have used the .271 Configuration Wizard on Windows 7 Enterprise x64 and have not seen such a problem. So this problem may depend on exactly what one's doing ...
Thanks,
Volker.
