I am a newbe with vax vms 7.3 not the alpha. i have simh running in fedora 17 and can log into it remotely if i need to, so all the network is working. I would like to ask someone to set up a howto to setup vms and xnest or some other x server to run dec windows. if this could/would be done you would be help several people out there like me. who just dont know how to put together pieces of information found on the net to make it work from here and there.
I hope to here from someone soon and thinks in advance for any consideration to this request

I'd recommend running the X server on the remote machine, and there's already pretty good howtos for Linux. In many cases you just do "xhost + (IP_address_of_the_VAX)" and "Xnest -- :1"
The other end is where it gets more difficult. Are you running UCX, MultiNet or TCPWare for your VMS TCP stack?
