Hello,

I have been trying to mount a ISO 9660 drive image to the OpenVMS and copy the save set over to my OpenVMS drive. But I jsut cant get the drive to mount. I tried all sorts of stuff but I get problems because of the filles 11 system.

This did not work
$ MOUNT/MEDIA_FORMAT=CDROM/UNDEFINED_FAT=STREAM:2048 DUA0: FREEWARE

Why is it having a hard time with the 9660. I just want to copy this backup set to the OpenVMS dua0 disk and then fix it. After that I will do a restore to dua1:

Thanks

Are you sure that the disk image is really an ISO-9660 drive image?

Are you sure that the image is not corrupt?

See: http://labs.hoffmanlabs.com/node/1613 for starters.

Thanks for your answer
I do believe my iso images are a problem. I was able to mount the ISo image that is used to install OpenVMS. I was able to get a UCX package and install it in OpenVMS. I used dd command in creating the iso images. Someone mentioned that the other software applications can mess it up so I did the linux dd command.

Here is what i used:
dd if=vaxdisk1.dat of=vaxdisk1.iso bs=2k

does the bs value need to be 512 to match the cluster size of the ODS2 file format. Is that why I get a error when I try to mount the iso image inOpenVMS. It says not files 11 file system.

Thanks again.

No more VAX hobbyist licenses. Community licenses for Alpha/IA64/X86_64 VMS Software Inc. Commercial VMS software licenses for VAX available from HPE.

Just re-visiting.. No more hobbyist licenses? Is that from vmssoftware.com, no 'community' licenses?

I recall that the disks failed on the public access VMS systems that included Fafner

Anyone know what happened to FAFNER.DYNDS.ORG? I had a hobbyist account here but can longer access the site.

At one time, didn't this web site have a job board? I would love to use my legacy skills one last time in my career.

New Hobbyist PAKs for VAX/VMS are no longer available according to reports. Only commercial licenses are reported to be for sale from HPE

Eisner, which is currently being moved, got an SSH update and the keys were updated to more modern encryption standards.
