Recently went to the HP site to check on some update bundles and patches for Alpha and Integrity OpenVMS. They wouldn't let me in without a Service Agreement. What gives? Any other place to get these updates?

Thanks.

Hi Gerry,
HP made the announcement (in August?) that they would be restricting access to paying customers as of September. They later moved out the cut-off date to 5-Oct., which was the day they restricted access.
Many of us have known about this issue, and I made a semi-public plea to interested hobbyists to contact HP. I followed up that plea with a contact email of my own, which was never acknowledged (beyond the usual, "...thanks for your feedback" email). My understanding from various contacts is that HP may still be (re-) considering their position, but I made sure I had all needed patches by 5-Oct. Stay tuned? Follow the conversation at comp.os.vms, where most of the discussion has taken place.
mportant note: As of September 18, 2010, HP has instituted a change in the way that Patch content is accessed. You need to have a valid ITRC user ID and password and will now also need an active HP support agreement that includes Software Updates linked to your ITRC profile. If your support agreement is not already linked to your ITRC profile, please do so to access Patch services. To obtain a support agreement with software updates, please contact your local HP office or representative or visit http://www.hp.com/go/contacthp to contact HP via chat or phone.
I've been out of the loop a little so I wasn't aware of the change. I've got the latest update bundles up to about June 2010 so I should be OK for now. I'll have to email them too.
