Hi.
I'm an italian CS student with an interest in Operating Systems, and I just found out about the OpenVMS Hobbyist program. I think this is a rare opportunity for us to get to know how real OSes worked - and in this case still do :-)

That said, our local DECUS chapter has been dead for years, so I joined HP Connect at Guest-level membership about two weeks ago, but I still haven't got my membership number.
I also tried to contact them using their form but to no avail.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

TIA,
Matteo

Connect have said they know there are issues with this but do keep chasing them.

Are you aware of this

I wasn't aware of that program, but unfortunately my university is really busy with post-earthquake recovery (I live in L'Aquila) so I doubt they are interested in a similar project at the moment.

Guess I'll just have to wait a little longer than I thought smiley

telnet eisner.decus.org
and register with decuserve for free, then use that membership number with the hobbyist registration form.

No more VAX hobbyist licenses. Community licenses for Alpha/IA64/X86_64 VMS Software Inc. Commercial VMS software licenses for VAX available from HPE.

Just re-visiting.. No more hobbyist licenses? Is that from vmssoftware.com, no 'community' licenses?

I recall that the disks failed on the public access VMS systems that included Fafner

Anyone know what happened to FAFNER.DYNDS.ORG? I had a hobbyist account here but can longer access the site.

At one time, didn't this web site have a job board? I would love to use my legacy skills one last time in my career.

New Hobbyist PAKs for VAX/VMS are no longer available according to reports. Only commercial licenses are reported to be for sale from HPE

See the forum about licensing. Don't know if HPE hobby licenses still being issued. Commercial licenses still being sold.

Eisner, which is currently being moved, got an SSH update and the keys were updated to more modern encryption standards.
