Hi all there, I'm sure I will need your help the next days until my last gray cells get active again. I just registered today. My first VAX, a MicroVax II, I installed 23 years ago, and we were a VMS site until 98 approx, when first Digital and later Compaq salesmen had convinced all our Bosses the future to be UNIX - which let to many incompatible Linux islands around me now.

Cleaning up my office I found the CD set of VMS 5.5-2 and thought to give it a try on simh - that is why I came here today. Today, I got as far with little reading that I got the standalone backup kit bootet - and now I must confess I forgot what to do next. I know I have to say
backup ... But what is ... ?

Thanks just a little correction the file name on my CD is VMS2055.B without an U, but your tip enable enough remembering to find that out.

Gosh is that fast, while typing the above it got to ask for PAKS already.

Running on a Windows 2008 Terminal Server with 2 3GHz Quad Xeons...

No more VAX hobbyist licenses. Community licenses for Alpha/IA64/X86_64 VMS Software Inc. Commercial VMS software licenses for VAX available from HPE.

Just re-visiting.. No more hobbyist licenses? Is that from vmssoftware.com, no 'community' licenses?

I recall that the disks failed on the public access VMS systems that included Fafner

Anyone know what happened to FAFNER.DYNDS.ORG? I had a hobbyist account here but can longer access the site.

At one time, didn't this web site have a job board? I would love to use my legacy skills one last time in my career.

New Hobbyist PAKs for VAX/VMS are no longer available according to reports. Only commercial licenses are reported to be for sale from HPE

Eisner, which is currently being moved, got an SSH update and the keys were updated to more modern encryption standards.
