Hi all,

Having finally got around to joining in here, I do periodically have hardware to get rid of if anyone out there is interested. As part of what I do (which is mostly high-end VMS related consulting) I periodically come across people chucking out old hardware, so if it's portable I sometimes grab it and pass it on to folks for use as hobbyist systems.

Some of the stuff is destined for the National Museum of Computing at Bletchley Park (home of Colossus and all that), such as my AlphaBook One. It could do with a battery if anyone has one lying around please.

I intend to have a bit of a clearout soon. There's a running AS4100 (2x 533MHz CPUs, 3 and a bit GB memory), some spare AS4100 CPUs (4x 300MHz), some old DEC EISA / ISA cards, some DEC network stuff, some small capacity SCSI discs and a couple of storage shelves, etc. etc.

Some of it may go off to be part of the SIMH system I built for TNMoC (http://retrobeep.no-ip.org/).

Hardware-wise, I've got all three architectures and both FC and SCSI storage. There's a pile of DEChub 900 based stuff too, plus some Windows XP laptops and workstations and a fast HP laser printer.

The latest acquisition is a MACbook Pro (refurb deal from Apple) and I'm really impressed with it so far.

No more VAX hobbyist licenses. Community licenses for Alpha/IA64/X86_64 VMS Software Inc. Commercial VMS software licenses for VAX available from HPE.

Just re-visiting.. No more hobbyist licenses? Is that from vmssoftware.com, no 'community' licenses?

I recall that the disks failed on the public access VMS systems that included Fafner

Anyone know what happened to FAFNER.DYNDS.ORG? I had a hobbyist account here but can longer access the site.

At one time, didn't this web site have a job board? I would love to use my legacy skills one last time in my career.

New Hobbyist PAKs for VAX/VMS are no longer available according to reports. Only commercial licenses are reported to be for sale from HPE

Eisner, which is currently being moved, got an SSH update and the keys were updated to more modern encryption standards.
