Hi all,

Happy to register to this new Hobbyist OpenVMS website.

I'm always here, even if I don't traffic very much into comp.os.vms (remember CENA).

I'll try to post some pics of my home setup (Two Alphas / Three HP PCs).

May main home system is an Alphastation DS15A under Vms 8.3 and with about 340 Gb of disks and a DDS5 DAT for backup. The PCs have more than One Terabyte of storge however, but I record some TV programs via a Digital TV receivercard (whe have now Digital Terrestrial TV in France, since 3 years, about 22 free channels).

Refards,

Patrick

May be you can receive some of the muxes in UK (note we use 8K COFDM modulation and not 2K like in UK, but with a recent receiver it may be OK). In France Digital TV is called TNT (Television Numerique Terrestre).

My avatar is a lovely Dwarf Rabbit born in September 2003. On the avatar pic, he was only 8 weeks old, the day he comes at home. You can see pics at 6 months old on my web pages

plus some Paris pics taken in March 2004

My DS15 (I also have a DS10) is,used to process digital pictures (I have a lot of digital photo cameras, from 2 to 8 Mpixels) and to listen music (midi and mp3). It was rather difficult to buy the DS15 sound card (the 3.3V Ensoniq model) because the sound card was never validated under VMS on the DS15 (however it works great) and HP never wanted to sell me the system with the card !!. It was necessary to buy the card separatly from a broker.

No more VAX hobbyist licenses. Community licenses for Alpha/IA64/X86_64 VMS Software Inc. Commercial VMS software licenses for VAX available from HPE.

Just re-visiting.. No more hobbyist licenses? Is that from vmssoftware.com, no 'community' licenses?

I recall that the disks failed on the public access VMS systems that included Fafner

Anyone know what happened to FAFNER.DYNDS.ORG? I had a hobbyist account here but can longer access the site.

At one time, didn't this web site have a job board? I would love to use my legacy skills one last time in my career.

New Hobbyist PAKs for VAX/VMS are no longer available according to reports. Only commercial licenses are reported to be for sale from HPE

See the forum about licensing. Don't know if HPE hobby licenses still being issued. Commercial licenses still being sold.

Eisner, which is currently being moved, got an SSH update and the keys were updated to more modern encryption standards.
