I began back in February 1977 with OpenVMS "VMS" V0.6 (mostly RSX11-M running in compatibility mode). I've been a system manager/programmer/jack of all trades with OpenVMS ever since. I've used VAX's, Alpha's, Integrity Servers, Clusters (2 to 51+ members, CI and Ethernet based), and most but not all Storage systems and I/O that have been developed over these 30+ years. I've written VAX and Alpha but not Integrity device drivers. I'll retire someday in the far future and hope to have at least 40+ years of OpenVMS experiance before I retire. I hope to be able to help anyone who might have a problem understanding OpenVMS. Windows is for non-computer people. Unix is for hackers. Linux is just a remake of Unix. OpenVMS is the real thing! Long Live OpenVMS! |

Youngsters are always welcome. Which version did you get introduced to when you started "VMS" (OpenVMS)? What version are you using now? Have you made the transition to Integrity? I hope to be around when OpenVMS V10.0 has been released. I always look forward to the next version to see what's new. I worked at Boeing as a system manager for the Boeing company and had developed quit a few tools. I'm trying to recreate the tools on my home Alpha now. |

I started with VMS V4.6 on MicroVAX II.
I currently system manage systems ranging from V5.2-2 to V8.3 and on VAX, Alpha and I64.
I do VMS system programming for fun :-)
I have released some VMS freeware - see

At home I have a Digital PWS and a VAXstation 4000-VLC |
