Dear members !

Bitcoin and Blockchain technology are important developments !

I am looking to connect here with distributed computing experts ( OpenVMS ), system administrators and others etc. also interested in Blockchain technology and generally distributed computing / peer-to-peer networks, Blockchain poses many technical challenges but also presents many new opportunities for societal changes and useful appliacations for individuals, businesses / organizations. I am part of a wider group that have been active in the Bitcoin, crypto-currency scene and also following the current (private) Blockchain Enterprise developments for several years but with very limited knowledge or experience of the OpenVMS operating system. We are looking for input and expertise / particpation on building the next generation distributed network. Blockchain ( Bitcoin the public blockchain variety more generally known) generally strives to decentralize and disintermediate. The ownership and control of data can be transferred back to the orginal owner / contribuant from centralized controlled legacy (storage) systems (databases) that are more vulnerable to hacking. We are based in Europe / Amsterdam ( The Netherlands ) but are otherwise international and globally connected. It is an extensive collaborative project where we are participating voluntarily and without financial compensation ( not for profit ) feeling a better infrastructure and platform is needed to build and deliver future decentralized applications upon. I much look forward to hearing from and connecting to you. Just send me a private message. Thanks !

If this is real and above board, post a public site for review.

I think I saw blockchain on the VSI roadmap.

Is there something VMD needs for blockchain support?

Good to see some replies here after checking back !

VSI indeed is looking into Blockchain and I can confirm we are in contact with them on this.

At this stage we have not yet put on a public face ( so no publicly accessible website available ) being somewhat in stealth mode - exploring various possibilities ( including e.g. OpenVMS ) as well as looking for interested parties ( experts ) willing to contribute their expertise.

Rest assured this is real and above board! Will reply also by private message to Bruce Claremont with some information.

No more VAX hobbyist licenses. Community licenses for Alpha/IA64/X86_64 VMS Software Inc. Commercial VMS software licenses for VAX available from HPE.

Just re-visiting.. No more hobbyist licenses? Is that from vmssoftware.com, no 'community' licenses?

I recall that the disks failed on the public access VMS systems that included Fafner

Anyone know what happened to FAFNER.DYNDS.ORG? I had a hobbyist account here but can longer access the site.

At one time, didn't this web site have a job board? I would love to use my legacy skills one last time in my career.

Eisner, which is currently being moved, got an SSH update and the keys were updated to more modern encryption standards.
