Hello, my name is Vesselin Kenashkov and I am from Sofia, Bulgaria. I am a newbie to OpenVMS and alpha hardware. I am working as a web developer, but I am interested in computer hardware, and OS-es. So my first non-x86 architecture is a DEC PWS600a (which I converted into 600au) with the appropriate OS for it smiley
Here in Bulgaria there are no many (not to say - any) OpenVMS users but this is due to the lack of the needed hardware (Alpha-s and VAX-es) and the software - no one can provide you with the OS itself. Since I have some software I can provide it (in the terms of the hobbyist license) to bulgarian hobbyist who needs it. And I hope to find (or "to create" - why not? - I'm planning a bulgarian hobbyist web site for Alpha/OpenVMS) other OpenVMS users/hobbyists from Bulgaria.

P.S. please excuse my bad english.

Welcome Vesselin!

Having seen some of your previous posts and thus knowing what you have achieved so far, I think you are being modest describing yourelf as a "newbie"!!!!

Fortunately, there are some VERY knowledgeable people out there, all over the world, who will gladly help and advise. I have had some excellent advice from very distant places. Thus in some ways, you are not as "isolated" as you thought in one of your posts.

So Good Luck, keep up the good work and ask if you need any advice.

Kind Regards,

Russell

No more VAX hobbyist licenses. Community licenses for Alpha/IA64/X86_64 VMS Software Inc. Commercial VMS software licenses for VAX available from HPE.

Just re-visiting.. No more hobbyist licenses? Is that from vmssoftware.com, no 'community' licenses?

I recall that the disks failed on the public access VMS systems that included Fafner

Anyone know what happened to FAFNER.DYNDS.ORG? I had a hobbyist account here but can longer access the site.

At one time, didn't this web site have a job board? I would love to use my legacy skills one last time in my career.

New Hobbyist PAKs for VAX/VMS are no longer available according to reports. Only commercial licenses are reported to be for sale from HPE

Eisner, which is currently being moved, got an SSH update and the keys were updated to more modern encryption standards.
