I'm David Cathey, and I'll be your host for these forums. I've been actively involved with the OpenVMS Hobbyist Program since its inception at the St. Louis DECUS Symposium in May of 1997.

Of course, the OpenVMS Hobbyist web site is fully hosted on OpenVMS. Alpha powered and running OpenVMS V7.3-2, additional tools like Apache for OpenVMS, PHP for OpenVMS, and the MySQL port for OpenVMS provide the web and database services for the entire web site and license generation facilities.

I don't know where to post requests for enhancements, so here goes...

I'd like to request a forum be created to request that new forums be created. 8-)

I'd also like to request that a forum be created to discuss the possibility of opening the hobbyist program to Itanium hardware.

What he said. I've got an RX-2600 I picked up from an IDF last year. The licences on it are long-since expired, so it collects dust. Sure would make a nice webserver... ;-)

It's in the works... It will happen, just not sure when yet.

No more VAX hobbyist licenses. Community licenses for Alpha/IA64/X86_64 VMS Software Inc. Commercial VMS software licenses for VAX available from HPE.

Just re-visiting.. No more hobbyist licenses? Is that from vmssoftware.com, no 'community' licenses?

I recall that the disks failed on the public access VMS systems that included Fafner

Anyone know what happened to FAFNER.DYNDS.ORG? I had a hobbyist account here but can longer access the site.

At one time, didn't this web site have a job board? I would love to use my legacy skills one last time in my career.

New Hobbyist PAKs for VAX/VMS are no longer available according to reports. Only commercial licenses are reported to be for sale from HPE

See the forum about licensing. Don't know if HPE hobby licenses still being issued. Commercial licenses still being sold.

Eisner, which is currently being moved, got an SSH update and the keys were updated to more modern encryption standards.
