Having got my emulator up and running I was just trying to go and buy the hobbyist product kit, but montegar.com seems to have dropped off the net.

Does anyone know if this is temp, or is there another source please?

Cheers,

Bob

Hi Bob,

I assume you tried the "OpenVMS Media" links at the top of the page, and in the navigation bar to the left.

When I used those links, I was able to access the page at montagar that allows one to purchase media. If you experience a timeout, or server busy messages, just try again, or try again "later".

Good luck, and happy hobbying!

Hi,

I'm also having problems trying to access the website www.montagar.com .

Clicking on the link http://www.montagar.com/hobbyist/mount.html results in a 404 page.

Trying to access www.montagar.com brings up the same error.

I just checked my dns-settings, this is what nslookup has to say:

> montagar.com
Server: 192.168.100.254
Address: 192.168.100.254#53

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: montagar.com
Address: 72.64.118.242

Accessing 72.64.118.242 directly shows me the default website of a fresh Apache installation, stating that Apache has been correctly setup...strange...

Is there another legal way to obtain a copy of the current OpenVMS media kit for ALPHA?

Regards,

Dominik

Montagar.com IS SERIOUS with the orders?

I ordered 6 days ago and I have on input from them.

I am afraid because in my order I put confidential info
like my credit card number.

Someone had experience purchasing Openvms hobbyist kits?

Thanks.

No more VAX hobbyist licenses. Community licenses for Alpha/IA64/X86_64 VMS Software Inc. Commercial VMS software licenses for VAX available from HPE.

Just re-visiting.. No more hobbyist licenses? Is that from vmssoftware.com, no 'community' licenses?

I recall that the disks failed on the public access VMS systems that included Fafner

Anyone know what happened to FAFNER.DYNDS.ORG? I had a hobbyist account here but can longer access the site.

At one time, didn't this web site have a job board? I would love to use my legacy skills one last time in my career.

New Hobbyist PAKs for VAX/VMS are no longer available according to reports. Only commercial licenses are reported to be for sale from HPE

See the forum about licensing. Don't know if HPE hobby licenses still being issued. Commercial licenses still being sold.

Eisner, which is currently being moved, got an SSH update and the keys were updated to more modern encryption standards.
