Hello,

Is there a V8.2 hobbyist kit in our future?

(You _knew_ someone would ask - :-))

Yes, there will be a V8.2 kit in the future. We're only allowed to do periodic releases of the Hobbyist Kits (and very thankful we can even do that!). Sometime next year is what I would estimate for updated Hobbyist Kits.

Now that hp has released CIFS (Samba) for "evaluation", is there any chance of hobbyists seeing V8.2 "soon"? CIFS "requires" V8.2, (as well as TCP/IP Services, for the moment!) and I'd like to "evaluate" it as a replacement for SAMBA 2.2.8.

I'd make the 60-mile trek to Nashua this month to advocate for a hobbyist V8.2 distribution, if I thought that it would make a difference (and if I'd be allowed in without paying for the boot camp!)

Don't worry, you won't have to make the trek (unless you want to). I'll advocate for the 8.2, and since it's been a while since the last Hobbyist Kit, it will likely go through - then it's just the matter of mastering and production (there's a big CD/DVD production company in Dallas that did the last Kit's).

Is there any info you can share regarding a go/no go for a VMS 8.X hobbyist kit?

And, since I'm asking for the world, an IA64 kit would be swell.

No more VAX hobbyist licenses. Community licenses for Alpha/IA64/X86_64 VMS Software Inc. Commercial VMS software licenses for VAX available from HPE.

Just re-visiting.. No more hobbyist licenses? Is that from vmssoftware.com, no 'community' licenses?

I recall that the disks failed on the public access VMS systems that included Fafner

Anyone know what happened to FAFNER.DYNDS.ORG? I had a hobbyist account here but can longer access the site.

At one time, didn't this web site have a job board? I would love to use my legacy skills one last time in my career.

Eisner, which is currently being moved, got an SSH update and the keys were updated to more modern encryption standards.
