Perhaps this query is too early, but is there a "schedule" for producing an Alpha V8.4 hobbyist kit?
Thanks! |

I am interested too. I still haven't installed the 8.3 on my virtual alpha and have had the kits for awhile. |

hum...
Did anyone get their hands on the 8.4 Field Test?
I have some POSIX code developed on UNIX that has conditional compiled bits that I would like to get rid of...
Also, the 8.4 presentations include some interesting shared memory APIs. |

Based on prior updates I'd say it'll be a while. HP puts authorization of new hobbyist media firmly on the back burner.
Does anyone know if the odd behavior on (at least) Alpha graphical consoles (without DECwindows) was fixed in 8.4-Final? I've only used the beta, and there were a few oddities on a Permedia graphics head. |

It'll get here when it gets here.
FWIW discussion with the few VMS types I know indicates that most are still on V8.3 anyway - seems V8.4 is a bit buggy comparatively. Now that HP doesn't allow patch access without a paid support contract having a bug-free base is very important to hobbyists. |
