Do any of you use gawk frequently on VMS?

Over the last several years I've used it a great deal and have done some small tinkering with the sources now and then, mostly with regard to stuff in the [.vms] directory of the distribution.

I've written a couple of extensions for gawk v3.1.5 and .6 to enable the use of sys$getsyi and sys$getuai (maybe also sys$getjpi--I can't remember right now and it's all at home, not here at work).

My goal has been to finish these on my hobbyist DS10 at home and to make them and some other lesser tweaks available to vms hobbyists at large and hopefully to get some of it in to the official gnu distribution of gawk or xgawk (whichever it's called these days.)

Though I'd like to turn some of this loose for any of you to try out I don't actually get the DS10 booted up very often these days. If you'd be interested in trying them out, though, it just might motivate me to turn on my DS10 a little more often. smiley

It would also be fun to play with some of the new stuff in [x]gawk v3.1.6 that I haven't had much time to look at, such as some support for xml and for compiled-in (vs. dynamically loaded) user extensions.

If interested you can post here or send a pm here on openvmshobbyist.com, or mail me at gltmailbox dash vms at yawho dot com. (Of course, yawho is actually spelled yahoo.)

No more VAX hobbyist licenses. Community licenses for Alpha/IA64/X86_64 VMS Software Inc. Commercial VMS software licenses for VAX available from HPE.

Just re-visiting.. No more hobbyist licenses? Is that from vmssoftware.com, no 'community' licenses?

I recall that the disks failed on the public access VMS systems that included Fafner

Anyone know what happened to FAFNER.DYNDS.ORG? I had a hobbyist account here but can longer access the site.

At one time, didn't this web site have a job board? I would love to use my legacy skills one last time in my career.

New Hobbyist PAKs for VAX/VMS are no longer available according to reports. Only commercial licenses are reported to be for sale from HPE

Eisner, which is currently being moved, got an SSH update and the keys were updated to more modern encryption standards.
