Hi,
I was wondering about this for a long time since my firend told me that the military and US DoD uses most of VMS on their classified networks.
However, I did a search fore VMS on several Government IT contractor job openings who use a Top Secret clearances for the DoD mostly use either Trusted Solaris , UNIX, or Linux.
Is VMS about to be phased out sooner or later?
It seems to me that VMS is not all mentioned about in the Government Common Operating Enviroment (COE) in the NSA or DoD architectures...as its mostly composed of UNIX.
Do they or not use VMS?
Thanks. |

There has always been rumours about VMS use in Government IT but few confirmed sightings. One of the confirmed uses is JSTARS
The specific technology used in Government IT is rarely talked about outside of the people who work on it. |

The US Government Treasury department allegedy use OpenVMS Alpha.
Problem is that the people who would know about millitery or Govt uses can't say anything.
