These days I use it as a webserver along with CSWS (Apache). I have about 18GB of content mostly catering to the recondite technical interest. It's great to have a place to put my stuff and not have to worry about it. Sometimes a month or more goes by without me touching the system and then it is mainly to update the website. |

Hi,
Sorry for the misunderstanding, but I am not a VMS admin, Heck....I even wish I was running a real VMS system...But, no. Im not unfortunately.
I am creating users only for practice...on the SIMH VAX emaulator....I do not manage any users...I just want to learn to create users or assigning UICs..
These are so called...imaginery users.....only for practice on the emulator. |

OK, understood...well, then you're in a good position to "learn by doing", creating user accounts perhaps, then logging on to those accounts to see what you can (or can't) see in userland. Fool around with ACL's to see if you can allow "others" to view your files, or vice versa.
Or you could go the "automated" route, and fool around with SYS$EXAMPLES:ADDUSER.COM. By the way, SYS$EXAMPLES has a number of goodies to help one learn more about the capabilities of VMS. |

Child_z, lots to learn but plenty of well written documentation http://www.hp.com/go/openvms/doc and people here to answer questions. |
