Hi,
I believe that there is something in OpenVMS to limit the entry numbers for use by batch/print queues. I am used to seeing entry numbers cycle from 1 to 1000. However, I am now seeing entry numbers in the 6000's. If I get to 10000 I will have some programming issues.
Can anyone direct me to the system limiter? (if that is what is it is called).
Thanks

If you can not find it at http://h41379.www4.hpe.com/doc/os84_index.html then you can not assume that there is any specific limit on queue entry numbers.
Queue entry numbers are unique to a cluster.
I would look in the system services sys$getqui documentation.
With OpenVMS 8.0, several counters with no documented limits had their sizes extended, and subsequent releases of 8.x some of the code started using those larger ranges.

I know the number of users can be limited. I thought that the same thing could be applied to the entry numbers. Until recently, the numbers have always been under 1000.
Thanks for the reply. |

After a shutdown and restart, the entry numbering has returned to normal.
It had been a while since the last restart... |
