I've got a small hobbyist cluster as follows:

ALPHA1 (AlphaServer 400, VMS 8.4)
DKA0: System drive
DKA200: Shadow member for DSA0:

VAX1 (VAXstation 4000 90, VMS 7.3)
DKA0: System drive
DKA200: Shadow member for DSA0:

VAX2 (VAXstation 4000 VLC, VMS 7.3)
DKA0: System drive

Current cluster interconnect is 10Mb Ethernet, which can get quite busy
under periods of heavy disk activity on DSA0. I'd like to add a FDDI
connection between ALPHA1 and VAX1 to offload shadow traffic from
the Ethernet. With appropriate SAS FDDI interfaces (DEFPA and
DEFTA) in each host, can I just swap the TX and RX lines to create a
simple two-node ring?

Thanks in advance,
Cory.

I would expect that you should be able to swap the two lines. I have not tried it my self though.

Yes. The transfer is not yet complete. Please check this forum as well as comp.os.vms for announcements about availability.

No more VAX hobbyist licenses. Community licenses for Alpha/IA64/X86_64 VMS Software Inc. Commercial VMS software licenses for VAX available from HPE.

Just re-visiting.. No more hobbyist licenses? Is that from vmssoftware.com, no 'community' licenses?

I recall that the disks failed on the public access VMS systems that included Fafner

Anyone know what happened to FAFNER.DYNDS.ORG? I had a hobbyist account here but can longer access the site.

At one time, didn't this web site have a job board? I would love to use my legacy skills one last time in my career.

New Hobbyist PAKs for VAX/VMS are no longer available according to reports. Only commercial licenses are reported to be for sale from HPE

See the forum about licensing. Don't know if HPE hobby licenses still being issued. Commercial licenses still being sold.

Eisner, which is currently being moved, got an SSH update and the keys were updated to more modern encryption standards.
