I've dusted the cobwebs off a VAXstation 4000 VLC; found an MMJ cable in a box of odd cables and found a DEC keyboard. No VT terminal though. Downloaded Pathworks off Winworld https://winworldpc.com/product/pathworks/32-v7x to install the Powerterm 525 terminal emulator on a 32bit Windows Vista PC. Planning to cut the MMJ cable in half and solder a DE9 connector to the cut end following instructions at http://avitech.com.au/?page_id=766 to make a suitable null modem cable. Hoping to use the terminal emulator and hacked cable to capture console output. Will what I'm proposing work?
Almost 1am now. Planning to forge ahead tomorrow. Any suggestions/reassurance welcome. Looking forward to getting back to my VAX roots in the coming days.
