First off, I realize the hardware is old...

Is it normal to require the BA356 have the personality card (16bit) installed or present, though unused, when I am using a DWZZB as the connection into the array? If you take it out the drives don't show up. From my days in the datacenter I swear the personality card was not needed. But this is the only way I can get the drives to show up is to leave it in.

The drives attached to the controller appear as DKA0*00.. etc and the internal drives now appear as DKB* once the system is booted. Is there some way to change this? I had been under the delusion the drives would appear as DKC..

thanks.

KZTSA-AA Turbochannel SCSI card - what have you got that plugged into?

perhaps the personality card is providing termination on one end of the SCSI bus.

As to the naming - predicting this can be a bit problematic for any system

No more VAX hobbyist licenses. Community licenses for Alpha/IA64/X86_64 VMS Software Inc. Commercial VMS software licenses for VAX available from HPE.

Just re-visiting.. No more hobbyist licenses? Is that from vmssoftware.com, no 'community' licenses?

I recall that the disks failed on the public access VMS systems that included Fafner

Anyone know what happened to FAFNER.DYNDS.ORG? I had a hobbyist account here but can longer access the site.

At one time, didn't this web site have a job board? I would love to use my legacy skills one last time in my career.

New Hobbyist PAKs for VAX/VMS are no longer available according to reports. Only commercial licenses are reported to be for sale from HPE

Eisner, which is currently being moved, got an SSH update and the keys were updated to more modern encryption standards.
