Hi All, I've an Alpha machine that has a problem that during a DEC Windows session the keyboard and mouse clicking won't work for a few minutes, and then again it will start working, back and forth. Has anyone had a similar problem? It's an Alphaserver 400 I'm using. Does anyone know as well are there any companies that fix Digital DEC machines in the UK?
Thanks
Ian

That behavior could be a software problem, not a hardware problem, such as a resource problem.

I am sure that service is available from both HP, and third parties. There should also be consultants that should be able to help diagnose the issue.

The comp.os.vms news-group has several posters from the UK area.

Been away from OVMS - mixing concrete etc smiley. - but if you have a separate console and keyboard, maybe, try to see what the system is 'doing' while things appear to be hung - show sys, mon proc/topcpu - set the window you are doing the monitoring from to a high priority, set proc/prio = 'n' (where n = 10 say, I think the 'swapper' runs at 16) Some process maybe 'gobbling up' resources.

- you may need to give yourself more privileges, to change priority.

No more VAX hobbyist licenses. Community licenses for Alpha/IA64/X86_64 VMS Software Inc. Commercial VMS software licenses for VAX available from HPE.

Just re-visiting.. No more hobbyist licenses? Is that from vmssoftware.com, no 'community' licenses?

I recall that the disks failed on the public access VMS systems that included Fafner

Anyone know what happened to FAFNER.DYNDS.ORG? I had a hobbyist account here but can longer access the site.

At one time, didn't this web site have a job board? I would love to use my legacy skills one last time in my career.

New Hobbyist PAKs for VAX/VMS are no longer available according to reports. Only commercial licenses are reported to be for sale from HPE

See the forum about licensing. Don't know if HPE hobby licenses still being issued. Commercial licenses still being sold.

Eisner, which is currently being moved, got an SSH update and the keys were updated to more modern encryption standards.
